About Me

IMG_0810.JPG

In case you want to know a bit about the person you'll be spilling your guts to.

I was the girl "who had it all together" throughout high school. I was so focused on the next chapter, that I didn't give enough time to figuring out who I actually was, what I wanted to do with my life, and what was important to me. This led me to try out several different majors during college and to begin my own therapy journey. I had many interests, but the only subject I found myself actually quoting facts for outside of class was psychology. I should have known because understanding others and my own thoughts and feelings had always been at the forefront of my mind.  You might assume that psychology automatically means you'll become a therapist, but not necessarily.

The true reason I had decided to pursue being a therapist was that I actually did not find the therapists I had tried to be very helpful, and I wanted to be able to offer something different. As an anxious, highly sensitive, neurodivergent woman with ADHD and OCD, I often felt misunderstood and like I was not being given the tools to tackle my life outside of the therapy session, and I didn't feel particularly connected to my therapist. I took it upon myself to learn evidence-based practices to provide my clients with the skills needed to put themselves back in the driver's seat of their life. I made it my mission to bring authenticity and compassion to my work, while also challenging my clients, so that they could grow without judgment. I also decided to make my practice woman-centered because I believe women need a space to feel safe and seen, especially given my own diagnoses of PMOS and PMDD.

Outside of Sessions

As a born and raised Minnesotan, I do have that rumored midwestern niceness, but I've found my home on the East Coast, even if shopping at Trader Joes is a bit more hectic. I've been living in Brooklyn, New York for about 4 years now and have tried my best to see all that the city has to offer. I'm a Gen Z-e who is addicted to ranking new restaurants and coffee shops on Beli, sketching city architecture, and finding new ways to stay active. I've  played in a Volo volleyball league, and these days, you can find me running or taking a reformer pilates class. My husband and I enjoy walking our dog, Marvin, along the Brooklyn Promenade, croissant and coffee in hand. At home, you can find my snuggled up with my cat, Matilda, and a romantasy book. I've also been known to spend a little too much time watching Netflix and dabble in gaming on my Xbox. Lastly, I'm hoping to cook up some written pieces on mental health (Tbd!).
