Frequently Asked Questions
My fee for individual therapy sessions is $200 per session. I offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots based on individual circumstances and availability. If cost is a concern, feel free to reach out to discuss options.
At this time, my work through Focus Psychotherapy LCSW PLLC is private pay, meaning out of pocket. You'll pay for sessions directly, but I may be able to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential Out of Network reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement amounts vary by plan, so I recommend checking your out-of-network benefits before beginning therapy.
Payment is due at the time of each session. A valid payment method will be kept on file, and we'll review payment procedures and policies before we begin working together. At this time, payments are primarily made to Focus Psychotherapy LCSW PLLC via Venmo or Zelle.
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice and missed appointments will be charged the full session fee of $200. This policy applies regardless of the reason for cancellation. If I need to cancel a session, I'll let you know as soon as possible, and we'll work together to reschedule, no charge.
If you're running late, please let me know. Sessions generally end at their scheduled time, even if you arrive lkate. If you're more than 15 minutes late without contacting me, your appointment will be considered a missed session and subject to the cancellation policy.
I offer virtual therapy sessions through Google Meet. You'll need a reliable internet connection and a private space where you feel comfortable speaking openly. Before our first session, we'll go over any additional details to help you get started. My psychotherapy services are provided through Focus Psychotherapy LCSW PLCC under the supervision of Michael Sands, LCSW-R.
I take sessions Monday through Thursday typically between the hours of 8 to 5. If you are hoping to work with me at a time outside of that window, feel free to reach out to ask if I can accommodate you. To respect my own work boundaries, I do not typically respond to messages after 5pm Monday through Thursday nor do I on the weekends, however, if I'm available, I may. If you message me outside of my working hours to cancel or reschedule a session, know that the time stamp of when you sent your message will be respected regarding the cancellation policy.
Finding the right therapist is personal, and not every therapist will be the right fit for every client. If you ever feel like our work together isn't quiet clicking, you can always let me know. No hard feelings! My goal is for you to feel comfortable being honest about what you need from therapy. I also recognize that I may sometimes determine that I am not the best match for you. If that happens, I'll communicate that with care and help you think through next steps for finding a therapist who better meets your needs.
